Thank you for asking this question. To start, I realized that I meant “Black people’s and people of color’s experiences.” I updated my statement to reflect that. What I mean by that is that Black people’s and people of color’s experiences are often discounted or met with opposition, especially those that relate to discrimination, racism, and oppression under white supremacy. Instead of listening to us and working to change what needs changing, dismissive attitudes help white supremacist structures to remain in place and cause further harm to those whom it targets.
